Senate District 7 is one of the smallest Districts in the state. Located northeastern Johnson County, Kansas, it encompasses the cities of Fairway, Merriam, Mission, Mission, Hills, Mission Woods, Prairie Village, Roeland Park, Westwood, and Westwood Hills, as well as portions of both Leawood and Overland Park.
The Kansas Senate is comprised of 40 different districts. In 2002 the Kansas Legislature enacted re-districting legislation, and both House and Senate districts were restructured to reflect the findings from the 2000 U.S. Census.
